Argos smiled down at Abby as he watched her eyes fill with awe and excitement. She was a kid at Disney, he realized as her eyes darted from one thing to another. “Welcome to the Glovics Bazaar.” He waved his arms in a grand gesture to showcase the rows upon rows of exotic goods.

Her eyes landed on a nearby stall and widened. He noted how she pushed in closer to him as her fear hiked at the sight of the demon who owned the stall. “Argos?” she asked his name questionably.

He couldn’t deny the boost of male ego he felt as his mate leaned into him for protection. She viewed him as someone on her side now and that was a victory; he didn’t realize he needed it as badly as he had. He wrapped an arm around her shoulder, pulling her tighter against him. Leaning over, he spoke gently. “It’s okay, Abby. That’s a desert demon; completely harmless.”

The light caught the glass and showcased the unique design within it. Small holes were placed throughout the piece and as she pulled the ornate glass to her lips, she blew into the holes.

A sound similar to those of a flute sounded, bringing a smile to Abby’s lips as she eased. The demoness smiled and handed the item to Abby, who took it gleefully as she turned it over in her hands. “I am from a realm that is sand and rock as far as the eye can see. My tribe gathers the sands and we heat them until we can mold them into these trinkets. When the desert winds blow in the nights, our young are soothed to sleep by the music they create,” she explained.

Abby nodded. “It’s really beautiful.” She tried handing it back as the demoness held up her hand and shook her head.

“Please, my lady, keep it as a gift from my people to you.” She winked and added, “May it soothe your young as it has mine.”

Abby sputtered, nearly falling over. “I don’t have any,” she nearly shrieked before looking up at him as he tried to maintain his composure. “Why does everyone think I’m
